Building an Acquisio API

It’s been a long time coming but the wait is over, the Acquisio API is here! Acquisio now allows customers to programmatically provision and manage accounts by connecting to our platform via our new API. Customers love this because they can automate their CRM integration and reduce costs by allowing software to perform low value-add activities. Ultimately the API will allow our customers to get more out of their relationship with Acquisio.

Application Program Interface (API)
An application program interface (API) is a set of routinesprotocols, and tools for building software applications. Basically, an API specifies how software components should interact. Additionally, APIs are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. A programmer then puts the blocks together.

We wanted to highlight the brains behind our talented product development team alongside their quest to create our very own API. So we sat down with our VP Infrastructure & API, Maxime Bellerose, to talk shop.

How do customers work now without automating account management via an API?

When customers start working with Acquisio they log into our client platform and connect their AdWords, Bing or Facebook ad accounts. At this point our system will import their past campaign items and the user is ready to go. This process is often done using our self-serve module but our dedicated account managers are also available to support the onboarding process. The process is pretty straightforward so customers ask why we created an API in the first place.

So what is the main reason for creating an API then?

The API is most useful for ongoing operations. Without it customers have more work to do with ongoing repetitive tasks like uploading new client accounts onto the platform. With the API connected customers just log into the tool, import new accounts and they’re good to go.

How does it work?

Well in a nutshell, Acquisio clients connect the API to their CRM. Every time that client gets a new customer with access to their AdWords, Bing or Facebook account, a piece of code is triggered letting our system know to automatically import their data to the Acquisio platform dashboard for ongoing management.

What advantages does the API offer Acquisio customers?

Well just like we explained above that the API saves advertisers time in uploading new accounts to our platform, the API offers the same advantage when their client is churning. Spending less time on disconnecting and connecting client accounts from the platform and having this done automatically saves our clients time and money. It also avoids human error, like simply forgetting! It comes down to customers delegating tasks to us to make their lives easier.
