Why Acquisio is a 10 year old Startup

On paper, in may not look like Acquisio is a startup. The company has been running for more than a decade, there are more than 150 people working full time with the company and it generates millions of dollars in revenue.

True, Acquisio in many ways is a thriving business, but by some of the most important standards, Acquisio is still very much a startup, and that’s because it maintains a startup culture.

The Startup Culture

When you start your own business you don’t stop pushing.

You push to get financial backing, you push to make your product or service stronger and you push yourself to work harder than you ever have before to meet ambitious goals.

Of course goals aren’t always met, work can’t get done 24/7 and sometimes you have to believe in your product alone for a long while before anyone else believes in you, but despite all the setbacks and pitfalls, startup culture is about resilience and growth.

At Acquisio, recently we’ve gone through a lot of changes. There have been significant changes to management and the way the company works.

An Agile Work Environment

For one, our work strategy switched from a waterfall work process (where progress is seen as a steady downward flow, from the phases of conception, initiation, analysis, design, construction, testing and production down to maintenance) to a more agile way of working (where solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross-functional teams to promote adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, continuous improvement, and to encourage rapid and flexible response to change.)

Thanks to the new agile environment,  there have been and will continue to be momentous product changes.

With so much change and so many things to launch and introduce, the vibe in the office very much mirrors a young ambitious startup, ready to put in extra hours to get the job done.

It is this very startup culture that attracted leading local marketing expert and serial entrepreneur, Sebastien Provencher, to join the Acquisio team and the new VP of Product.

Proud to be a 10 year old startup

For some, the thought of going back to the startup lifestyle, after 10 years in business, seems terrifying, but in an industry like digital marketing, where startups emerge everyday making the lives of online marketers easier and more fruitful, it’s important to constantly be changing, growing and willing to give it that extra push to stay relevant.

And that’s why Acquisio is proud to be a Senior Startup!
