Campaign Manager Profile: Joshua Corio, Cox Media Group

If two decades in the industry have taught us anything, it’s that every type of campaign, and every type of campaign manager, is completely different. Luckily for us, we’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest CMs in the business. They are able to dynamically implement our software in their strategies with exceptional results.

Cox CM Josh CorioOne of the above mentioned PPC masters is Joshua Corio, Sr. Paid Search Analyst for Cox Media Group in Atlanta. Cox Media Group is an integrated broadcasting, publishing, direct marketing and digital media company that focuses on creating incredible content for their clients.

In our interview we asked what it was like working with us. “Acquisio has been a crucial part of my day-to-day functions as well as a pleasure to work with and get to know!” Corio said. The rest of our interview with Joshua is below.

What types of PPC campaigns are you running for your clients?

I tend to focus on Search campaigns, like Google and Bing, as well as Display on GDN and YouTube.

What tools do you use to manage your campaigns?

Since we have a wide variety of media outlets, I do use a handful of tools to keep everything optimized: Acquisio, Google Analytics, AdWords (and AdWords Editor) of course, as well as Marchex, Bing Editor, Spyfu, SEMrush, and Woorank.

What would you say your biggest ongoing challenge is?

I think managing evolving client expectations is a challenge I regularly face.

What strategies do you use to manage your campaigns more efficiently?

To maximize efficiency, I tend to utilize rule automation, AdWords Scripts, Bulksheet Management, Cloning Campaigns, and KPI Dashboard. I finish it all off by creating custom reports for my clients.

If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring Campaign Manager what would it be?

The most important thing is to know your client’s industry. That knowledge, coupled with the average ticket size and the right conversion targets allows you to calculate ROAS and ensure that clients expectations are met and exceeded.

If you could have any feature implemented in the platform tomorrow, what would it be?

It would be helpful if you could make clicking on an account in the Client Center open to the KPI Dashboard rather than the Workbench. It’s more common that I need just a quick glance at pacing or targets as opposed to making account changes.

Where do you go to keep up with the Search Jones’?

My favorite sources are Searchengineland.com, WordStream, Google, TWIG, as well as frequent local marketing events.

And just for fun, who/what is your favorite:

Band:
Pink Floyd

TV Show:
Silicon Valley

Cuisine:
Mediterranean

We’d like to thank Josh Corio and Cox Media Group for being exceptional customers, and we wish them continued success!

Happy Campaigning!
